July 21, 2006, Newsletter Issue #25: Criteria for Domain Appraisal

Tip of the Week

If you’re going to be judged you should look good! Domain name appraisal companies will judge your domain name on a number of criteria:

• Extension Value (.com, .net, .org, etc)
• Brand Awareness (how recognizable is the domain name?)
• Memorability (the shorter the domain name, the better)
• Industry Potential (does the domain name have big use in a particular commerce field?)

Based on multiple industry metrics, you will receive a domain appraisal for the value of your name based on current market values, similar to other types of property valuations. Be prepared!
